Bone: Pretty scenery for snowbirds. Good, soft approaches were not rewarded. Greens very hard. Traps had little sand. Pro shop staff was sub-par. Beer cart quit around 1:30 p.m. Water fountains worked sometimes, sometimes not.

Stone: Pro-shop made error in tee time, then unapologetic and unfriendly. Later, on hole 14 QuickBuck called the pro-shop as beverage cart had not been around since 6th hole, said they would tell pro-shop manager, and still did not see beverage cart the rest of the day even though temperatures were around 100 degrees. A beautiful course, restaurant hamburgers excellent, but somehow the total experience unsatisfying. Updated April, 2010: Pro shop still unfriendly. Had a friendly beverage cart for the full round, though! Still not much shade on course, so avoid on hot summer days. But course was in excellent shape and the greens rolled true. A nice desert course and as challenging as you want to make it. Updated September, 2016: Pro shop much nicer now. No beverage cart service after 2 p.m. midweek. Course in great shape!

QuickBuck: Great East Valley location, no houses to damage. Well maintained decomposed granite areas outside the rough. Greens were very fast, cut too close, like putting on hard dirt. Water fountains had warm drinking water. No beverage cart back nine. Updated April, 2010: The course is growing up. Everything is in great shape. The fairways and greens are difficult from any tee. Straight is good. Shaping shots will get you in trouble until you know the course. Not Pete Dye fairways, but close!

Malibu: We played on a hot day, greens were hard and dry, shedding shots. The fairways were in good shape. The fountains were not working in most cases, cart girl not seen after front nine.
