Malibu: This course was in nice shape for this time of year. Greens, fairway and sand traps were in good condition. Not bad for the money. Updated, April 2012: This course overall is in good condition. The fairways are wide enough for staying out of trouble for the most part. Greens were fast and difficult to read, but in good condition. Sand traps had enough sand in them for a fair shot out. Good course for the money.

QuickBuck: Good course to play any time. In good shape for early September. Greens are a little slow and fuzzy, but the temperature was 104 degrees. To shoot a low score you need to play this course a few times. Several of the greens are elevated and the pin placement can be down right unfair. Updated, April 2012: Course is in prime winter condition. Hard to say winter at 85 degrees. It’s more important to be straight than long here. The greens can be deceiving, they look fast but it will fool you. Play this course, you will enjoy it.

MyTi: Instead of wine and roses, this course offers cheese and crackers. But that isn’t all bad. Greens were slow but true. Bunkers in good shape. Some holes tricked up but overall a good course, especially for the money. Not a destination course, but a good get-a-way course. Updated, April 2012: Shortish somewhat tight course. Undulating greens with nice speed. Fairway in good shape. Leave driver in the bag on all but longest holes.

Stone: Let me first say I do not really like this course, but it was in great shape today compared to other courses this summer. It is a little tricked up for my taste to the extent that a beautiful drive on a par four can be in the water, or you have a ridiculous lie. Not that it would ever happen to me, but I have it on pretty reliable information it happens frequently. Not much of a clubhouse, but the food is good and the staff (and beverage cart) were extremely nice. I played very well today but still got the snake on seventeen. Life is just not fair. Updated, April 2012: Starting to like this course after playing it for a few years. Still lost three balls in the water, so unless you are very accurate, bring lots of balls. Very nice people; worth playing.
