QuickBuck: Tough course, you must use the right club. You will never know which one until you play it. They take good care of it. Every fairway was green. All the tee boxes are domed, and it will mess you up. No sand traps! What a treat. The greens are tricky. Pin placement can be challenging if they want it to be.

Malibu: Nice inexpensive golf without any sand traps to contend with. Overall condition of this course is good. Fairways were in nice shape. Greens were in very nice shape, but hard to read. For the money, fun experience.

Bone: Difficult course to review. Played with only three clubs to celebrate our 100th golf course review. Only 5860 yards from back tees, changes strategy dramatically. Make sure you play with someone who has played before; can’t tell which way holes go sometimes. Retirement course.

Stone: Interesting course. Restaurant/patio dining outside. No real clubhouse, but okay pro shop with some nice sales in progress. Nice people, tricky course which will eat your lunch with narrow fairways and lots of water. If you have not played here before, bring lots of balls as some of the water is hidden or deceptively close. Many right and left doglegs and trees so even though the course is short and may have an easier slope/rating, it is much more difficult than you would expect. Having said all that, the course is fair but can be frustrating; four of us started with three clubs each, one of us left with only two and it wasn’t because he forgot it somewhere on the course…

QuickBuck: OK course for a subdivision. The price is right for the conditions if you don’t mind the drive. Can’t make any recommendations because this is a retirement community course, and all that would happen is the price will go up.

Malibu: Located west of Phoenix, in Surprise, Arizona. A nice course for the money. There are few trees to contend with, fairways are open and in nice condition. Greens also were in nice shape. Overall fun experience.

Bone: A good course for mid to high handicappers. More of a retirement community course. Wide fairways, large greens. Back tees a bit over 6,000 yards. Seems to have a lot of retirees. Nice staff.

Stone: Nice short course with a few twists and turns to make it interesting. Course in good condition. You can score well here, so good for the ego. Very large greens, can get a hot dog or hamburger, but that is almost it as the restaurant is part of the pro shop. Next door bar, more of a retirement community golf course with some pretty exotic golf carts on the course. Not a destination course unless someone you know lives there.

QuickBuck: Easy course! They overseeded the tee boxes and greens. We were told the fairways will not be overseeded, they are going to paint them green! Until they decide to take care of the course stay away. There are nicer courses to play for less money.

Malibu: This course is located in a very nice Scottsdale are with large beautiful homes. The condition of this course is in poor shape overall. Greens were okay, sand traps were in good shape, fairways were tree lined and in poor shape. This course needs some TLC.

Bone: Old Arizona course not in good shape. Two courses at Camelback and only one was overseeded. Play it from back tees, more interesting. Surrounded by beautiful homes but otherwise not much to see.

Stone: The sister course to the “Padre” course, which was overseeded. Told the course extends out for miles through a wash between the multimillion dollar homes, which I can believe. Mostly straight fairways it seemed because the course bookends a very long wash. Tall trees, course is typical winter non-overseeded condition. Expensive for the condition of the course, even this time of year. The restaurant, on the other hand, was outstanding and they have a great patio for post golf war stories.

MyTi: It was the best of times, it was the not so best of times. It was a tale of two nines. The front is longer and traditional, the back is scenic and it winds through the hills and provides more target golf. Fun course and worth the drive.

Malibu: This course is a one hour drive east of Phoenix, but is worth the drive. Rates are reasonable, layout is nice. Greens are difficult to read, but in good shape overall, sand traps were in need of new sand. Fun experience.

Bone: In better shape since last time. Varied holes give a lot of variety. 5 tee lengths from 5,300 to 7,100 add even more choices. Great price, but far from anything. Plan for all day with drive from central Phoenix and return.

Stone: What a difference from last time we played here. Now there is a new clubhouse, very large covered patio/party dining area, on course restrooms, and plenty of houses to hit with wayward drives. Course in nice condition with exceptional views. Variety of holes, but nothing that stands out except those that offer a birds eye view of the surrounding countryside. Well worth the trip, and an enjoyable round.

MyTi: Gary Panks always has great designs. Play it safe and tough 2 putt. Go for the flag and miss, tough up and down. Great design and playable. Worth the trip for anybody.

Malibu: This is a beautiful course with wide fairways and few trees to deal with. The course is laid out very well, making it fun to play. Greens, fairways and sand traps were in very good shape. Overall fun time.

Bone: Nice Gary Panks design. Can pick tees according to ability, back tees = 7200 yards plus. Greens in very good condition. Challenging par 3’s. This is a real nice place to play. Huge practice green and driving range. Would play again soon.

Stone: Wide open and fair describes this course. It is not a particularly exciting course to play nor does it have spectacular views (although you will see the occasional tractor driving by on the county roads nearby) but it is just a nice, playable course that is always in good condition. No restaurant, but one of the better practice facilities around. It has oversized multilevel greens that will test your putting, and strategically located sand traps which caught more than a few of my golf balls. Well worth the drive, and I did see a spectacular sunset on the way home.

Malibu: This is a short course that is in nice shape overall. Only two par fives, and seven par 3’s. Par 4’s are manageable. Greens were slow but in nice shape. Sand traps had ample sand in them, fairways were also in nice shape.

QuickBuck: Good course all around. Neat and clean. I don’t like courses that are lined up with houses but the course is easy so they don’t come into play if you keep your slice under control. They don’t have a (real) beverage cart, so stock up. The $20.00 price was actually low for the condition of the course.

Stone: Nice course in very good condition post over-seeding. Greens a little slow, but wide fairways and plenty of sand traps. Although a short course (par 67) with lots of par 3’s, it was really quite interesting. Did not have the typical feel of a short course, and it was fun for us to have lots of birdies for a change!

Bone: A good everyday course for the senior golfer. Not too long, short distances between holes. Still being over-seeded but in decent shape. Greens slow and slightly hairy. Good practice for par 3’s – seven of them.

Malibu: This is a nice course to play for a reasonable price. The layout is nice, with large fairways and large greens. Sand traps were in poor shape. Overall enjoyable experience.

QuickBuck: This course was a real surprise, the $15.00 to play it was a real give away. All courses should follow their lead. It doesn’t take a $20 million dollar course to be a great destination. This course can be brutal. The greens are large with undulations and plateaus. Hope you play here when the pin placement is user friendly. No matter what you hear about this course, play it anyway.

Stone: This course was a great choice. Very interesting layout (which is not too common in residential type golf courses), tough par threes, and greens that rolled true despite the scalping being done in preparation for over-seeding. The price paid reflected the season and the over-seeding preparations, but even so it was in good shape. Huge greens and a long drive from Central Phoenix, but well worth it.

Stone: Outstanding course conditions, super fast greens, and a groundskeeper that must not like golfers because it seemed like every pin was on a slope! Good food in the restaurant, but no beverage cart. Interesting course with lots of elevation changes. Very enjoyable course, and I like it better than Antelope Hills, which is another good course in the area. Try it and see what you think.

Malibu: This North Scottsdale course has a nice layout and beautiful views. There are plenty of long par fours, and target par threes. Greens were in nice shape, fairways were also in nice shape. Sand traps were abundant. Will play again soon.

QuickBuck: They take care of every detail, they want you to have a first class experience. The course was in prime season condition. Some sadistic person on the driving range thought telling me there are 106 sand traps on the Faldo course was helpful. No way! Treat yourself to this course any time you can.

MyTi: Quality course. Variety of holes, elevation changes and bunkers. Fun to play. Trust your club selection off the tee. Worth the effort to play.

Stone: Many, many, many sand traps. Fortunately they were full of sand and there was plenty of room to avoid them if you had reasonably accurate tee shots and irons. More intimidating than actually intrusive. Excellent restaurant; my playing partners raved about the food. Only negative for me was that all the holes all were very similar, at least to me, and did not have much in the way of elevation changes or a particularly nice view. Can’t complain about the course conditions because they were outstanding, especially for this time of year. A good choice for winter visitors as it is very representative of a quality winter Arizona golf experience.

Malibu: This is a nice course for the money. If noise bothers you, don’t play here. Air Force jets very loud at times. Greens were in nice shape, fairways are good. Sand traps were in bad shape due to the heavy rains. Overall okay!

QuickBuck: Very surprised with the quality of this course considering the price. Greens were in great shape, looked fast but deceptively slow. The jets taking off is an added attraction if you can handle the noise. For the price I would play this course every chance I could. Just too far away for me.

Stone: Interesting layout. Very flat desert course, dirt sand traps and lots of casual water from the summer monsoons. I do love those jets though! Never get tired of watching them take off (and they did it a lot while we were there). But bring your earmuffs because it was quite loud. Greens looked fast, weren’t, and eighteen is a long par three with water conveniently located on the right. No worries.
