Malibu: For the money, and being a city course, this is a nice course to play. Course layout is interesting. Fairways were good, sand traps were okay. The greens were in nice condition.
Bassman: Heavily played. Its one of the better municipal courses. If you can’t hit a straight ball you will struggle. The greens are a challenge. I enjoyed the course.
Bone: One of the better municipal courses in the valley. Old-style with pines and cottonwoods which come into play often. Greens were in good shape and readable. Back tees 6,700 a challenge for average player. Close to freeways, convenient.
Stone: Nice Mesa municipal course. Lots and lots of trees. Need a fade and a hook to score well here. Restaurant closed for remodeling, not great before so hope it improves. Mesa does a better job maintaining it’s public courses than Phoenix. (P.S. Restaurant reopened and the food is quite good!) |
