Malibu: This is a fun course to play as long as tee shots don’t stray too much. Greens were in very good shape, fairways also in good condition. Sand traps were in very good shape, with ample sand. Overall fun experience.
Bone: Fairways and greens in very good shape. Off fairways and rough were below average. An old course with fairways lined with homes and trees. Back tees only 6,500 yards. Many retired winter visitors here from December to April. Play can be slow at that time. Locals in East Valley play this course in hotter months. Never very expensive and has two restaurants to choose from. One is full-service with good meals. Staff is just there to process the golfer, don't expect lasting friendships!
Subette: Very straight forward. Ease-peezy-lemon-squeezy as long as you hit a fairly good tee shot. The greens were really smooth and well-groomed. The sand traps were in good condition with fresh sand and just the right amount. The rough varies from really thick to hard and patchy. Definitely social friendly.
Stone: I have always liked this course. Mostly older golfers (check out the lounge) but moved along at a good pace. Challenging enough for us from the back tees (200 yards + par threes), but not unfair. Rough was uneven, from U.S. Open style tall grass to dirt in some areas, but generally okay. Cannot hit woods on short driving range, but the friendly staff makes up for it. |
