Comments

MyTi: The holes have a tendency to look alike even though the doglegs go both ways. It’s nice to play some elevation changes in Arizona. Pretty fun course which can play fairly easy if conditions are good.

Malibu: This course is a great course for the money. Fairways were in nice shape, few trees to contend with. Greens were also good. Sand traps had sand in them. Overall fun experience.

QuickBuck: Great course with no homes. Very challenging in the wind. They take good care of the areas outside the rough. Surrounded by mountains so the greens are hard to read. Some putts go up hill. Support this club any time you can because they have a junior program called the Futures Course. Among other youth benefits, juniors up to 17 years old can play for free at the present time.

Stone: Interesting course with multiple elevation changes. I must have been in different sand traps than Malibu, because mine had hard packed dirt underneath a sand covering. Maybe I should avoid sand traps. Great junior program, with a short course next door in good shape with lots of clinics and junior tournaments we are told. One of the busier courses we have seen mid week, with club maker representatives and recreational tournaments in progress. The prices always seem to be fair at this course, probably because it is a bit of a drive. A very good value combined with a course that is different in many ways from all the rest. Try it – you might like it!

DufferDoc: An outstanding, beautifully maintained course ala an exclusive private course… Reasonably priced for the public. Scenery is beautiful. It is a “must ride” – walking impossible in many hills and deep canyons. A fun day! Bring extra balls – the canyons are deep… and did I mention full of rattlesnakes?

Comments

MyTi: Course runs in and around local washes. Short but tight with some fairways sloping towards trouble. Greens undulating and fair. If in the area, give it a shot.

Malibu: Very nice layout. Demands accurate tee shots to stay out of trouble. Fairways were in good shape, but narrow. Greens were in good shape, fast and hard to read. For the money, fun course to play.

Stone: Narrow, short course in Sun City/Surprise area. Greens, fairways, and sand traps all in good shape, but had those strange cayman balls on the range. Big patio for telling stories about your golf round, such as the “good shot, bad result” (?) comment we heard after we finished. Not sure how you can have a bad result from a good shot, but there it is. Did I mention the course is narrow? Golfers with hooks or a slice should bring plenty of balls, but it is mercifully short even though it did not feel like a short course. Worth playing if in the area, and quite enjoyable.

Comments

QuickBuck: Play this course any time you can. They know how to take care of it and they act like that want your business. Can’t find anything to complain about and there wasn’t anything special – Just a good golf course.

Subette: Not as easy as it appears because the greens are so dang HUGE! Older persons are plenty, but they appear to keep wonderful pace out there. Fairly well-kept, and very clean and quiet, no road noise at all. Greens were a bit run down and there is some hidden water. A very peaceful round if you keep it in the wide fairways (hard to miss them).

Ralphy: Nice muni style course. Huge greens with some tricky breaks. This is a course you could play every day. Nice driving range. Plenty of water to catch all your bad shots.

Stone: Did someone say huge greens? That is an understatement, and tricky too! One green had a four or five foot elevation change from one end to the other. Small grill for a restaurant, lots of outside seating and food was good. Very tall palm trees and even a cell phone tower dressed up to look like a palm tree. A variety of holes, lots of tee boxes with dogleg left fairways and water to catch the drives that are a little too far left. If you know what I mean. Elevated greens, and one with bookend sand traps I am told some have called “JAWS”. Watch out! Great course, play it if you can.

Comments

QuickBuck: Course is an above average subdivision course. The name would make you think it was a destination. Only the clubhouse lives up to the name. Play it any time you can, the $37.00 price is right if you can handle the drive. There are a few tricky holes. Play it twice and you will have a good score.

MyTi: Course is an upscale municipal. Good track, very playable. Somewhat exposed to the elements. If staying in the area, worth playing.

Malibu: This is a nice course for the money. Fairways, greens are in very nice condition. Sand traps are also good. Overall fun outing.

Stone: Played on a windy day so birdies were non-existent. Two hundred people were there, mostly seniors, and all having a good time except those looking for a beverage cart. Restaurant is excellent, with a big patio for après golf! Very nice, if uneventful, layout with some long par threes from the tips. Like the others, not sure I would make a special trip to play, but was a very enjoyable course and tough enough to make you think.
